Northern section of Inland Rail scrapped 
The Federal Government dumped the northern half of the Inland Rail freight project – the section connecting Parkes in central NSW to near Brisbane — after independent cost assurance put the full 1,600km project at more than $45 billion, over four times the original budget, with delivery not possible before 2036.

Queensland Government unveils Gold Coast Transport Plan
Metro-style buses are planned to be the main transport service provided for commuters within the State’s southern suburbs, replacing the previously cancelled light rail plan which was axed due to community backlash.
