We had the honour of hosting the world-renowned major projects expert, Professor Juliano Denicol, who is the Director of the Megaproject Delivery Centre at University College London.
During his visit, hel held a seminar on some of the major project research of his Centre, including findings on how three interdependent domains shape the performance of large-scale infrastructure projects: Procurement, Supply Chain Management, and Organisational Design. Although closely connected, these domains are rarely aligned in practice, often creating delivery challenges. Professor Denicol presented the organisational architecture of megaprojects and argued for designing megaprojects as evolving multi-level systems that integrate intra-organisational, inter-organisational, and system-level designs.
Professor Denicol also ran a session for the first residential of our 2026 Executive Leadership in Major Projects program where he held a discussion with this year’s cohort on why projects fail.
We would like to thank Professor Denicol for visiting the Institute and sharing with us his insights on what affects major projects outcomes.
