Executive Leadership in Major Projects and Programs

We are relaunching our flagship course on Executive Leadership in Major Projects and Programs, developing the skills to move from project manager to project director. We are happy to discuss your interest in being part of the cohort for this one-year flagship course, which will run in 2026.

Our alumni include senior leaders delivering major projects and programs in finance and banking, resource industries, new energy, infrastructure, construction, telecoms, and software organisations across both the public and private sectors.

We also host short programs for current and aspiring leaders of major projects. These cover open access programs on project sponsorship, systems approaches, and the leadership of megaprojects; and bespoke courses for major corporations and governments.

Leading complex projects sprint

We are offering a sprint for executives that will instil you with the knowledge and skills to effectively lead impactful projects for your organisation. The program will be launching in 2025. Register your interest now.

Digital project sponsorship

This course will help build capability and confidence in executives accountable for the sponsorship of digital projects. It covers the responsibilities and activities of project sponsors, and provides insight into what to look out for, how to navigate the challenges and the attributes of good project sponsor.

Systems engineering leadership

This course will help build capability and confidence in applying a systems approach in the leadership of major projects – we have two options, where one has a focus on design and governance of projects as interventions and the other focuses on the production systems.

Project Leadership

We can run bespoke courses for senior leaders based on our existing unit on project leadership methodologies and practices and their application to a range of project settings.

The University of Sydney’s School of Project Management also offers a Unit of Study and a Master’s degree on Project Leadership.
